This year’s Cannes Yachting Festival was the handover setting for the world’s first Digital Yachting certificate, awarded by RINA to Sanlorenzo for achieving outstanding levels of monitoring and data management in collaboration with D.gree and its technologies. The certification given to the fifth unit of the SP110 line represents not only the shipyard’s commitment to embracing digital transformation onboard, but also the need to assess yacht performance through new parameters, aligned with industry and market demands. D.gree plays a pivotal role in this process, affirming itself as a trustworthy partner for shipyards and stakeholders by offering tailor-made solutions made to help realize digital innovation goals.

RINA Certification: a global standard for Digital Yachting

RINA’s new Digital Yacht Class Notation defines a new era for Digital yachting.

It aims to certify onboard systems, enabling the monitoring and control of both essential and non-essential systems through remote analysis and data management. This innovation requires rigorous design and testing to ensure maximum safety and reliability.

The certification process includes requirements D.gree helps Sanlorenzo meet, such as:

  • Computer-Based Systems (CBS): Simplified hardware and software requirements for yachts with a gross tonnage under 500 GT.
  • Data Shore Transfer (ADC): Specifications for secure data transfer between the yacht and shore.
  • Cyber Safety: Standards to protect onboard digital systems from cyber threats for yachts with SL > 500 GT.

D.gree introduces Remote Digital Support for yachts

Monitoring is only a part of D.gree’s wider work which offers sophisticated data management solutions for remote support. H-Log, the D.gree technology onboard Sanlorenzo yachts is an example. The system is able to collect hundreds of parameters at the same time, including functional states of onboard systems, alarms and performance data in general.

The pioneeringaspect lies in its process, designed for optimized data collecting thanks to a system of intelligent nodes based on an innovative architecture remote edge computing node.

While H-Log is active, the H-System platform monitors, collects and analyzes data transmitted and allows the yacht’s status to be accessible—both locally and remotely—across different devices thanks to the intuitive G.U.I.

This featureprovides captains, owners and the shipyard with complete supervision and more importantly, it allows for scenario analysis, using real-time data to help minimize unexpected events and maximize yacht performance and safety.

Conclusion

D.gree’s contributions to Sanlorenzo’s digital journey showcase its pioneering role in the future of yachting. And as the yacht industry evolves, D.gree’s technology continues to develop new solutions that ensure yacht captains and owners have the tools they need for maximum efficiency over time.
